Cute birthday cards.
Small scenes, short lines.

Our cute birthday cards are 15 small drawn scenes, a cake, a kite, a dog by the candles, each with a short line on the front.

Every one is a card a family or a class signs from one link.

Pick a design

  • A party with balloons. Hold a balloon. Hold a friend. Happy birthday.
  • At the barbecue. Extra for the birthday cook. Burnt bits included.
  • Balloons. One for each wish. You have three. Spend them well.
  • A party. Little legs, big day. Run it well.
  • A film on the sofa. Snuggle in. The trailers are the best bit.
  • A party outside. Two hats, one cake and no crumbs left.
  • A birthday cake. Blow from the left. The dog is on the right.
  • Pizza on the sofa. Cheesy and warm, like the company.
  • Tasting the wine. Swirl it and sniff it, then just drink it.
  • Celebrating together. Higher. The photo needs the jump.
  • Sparklers. Write your name in sparks. We will watch.
  • A big ice cream. Lick fast. Drips wait for no one.
  • Celebrating. Hat on, worries off. Go on and dance.
  • Cheers. Clink it like you mean it. Happy birthday, you.

The question

Each writer gets a question.

One at a time, about Sam. They answer in their own words, or write without one.

Who they are to you
  1. Something Sam did this year that you still think about.
  2. Words of Sam's that you have caught yourself using.
  3. A day Sam made better just by turning up.
  4. Something Sam taught you without meaning to.
  5. A small thing about Sam that nobody else would notice.
  6. The story about Sam you tell most.
  1. The moment you knew you had a proper friend in Sam.
  2. Something Sam did that only a friend would.
  3. A thing you still laugh about together.
  4. The time Sam turned up when it mattered.
  5. Something Sam knew about you before you said it.
  1. Something Sam did for the family that went unsaid.
  2. A habit of Sam's that you have caught yourself copying.
  3. A memory of Sam from when you were younger.
  4. Something Sam put up with from you.
  5. Something Sam taught you, mostly by example.
  1. A small thing Sam did that you noticed and never mentioned.
  2. The moment you knew.
  3. Something Sam did this year that made things easier for you.
  4. A thing about Sam you would not change.
  5. Something Sam carried that was yours to carry.
  1. The thing you go to Sam for.
  2. Something you picked up from working beside Sam.
  3. A bad day at work that Sam turned round.
  4. Something a new starter should be told about Sam.
  5. Something Sam did that made the job feel worth doing.

Or write without one.

What to write inside

Short, like the front.

For a child

  • Happy birthday. You are taller than the cake now.

  • Big day. Big hugs. Bigger slice.

  • We love you more than the dog loves the bin.

  • Happy birthday from everyone who still calls you small.

For a grown up

  • A cute card for somebody who will pretend not to like it.

  • Happy birthday. Soft card, soft heart, no notes.

  • You get the small card. You get all the love.

From a class

  • Happy birthday from every desk in the room.

  • We all drew you a cake. This one is the best one.

  • From your whole class, with the glitter left out on purpose.

Who these suit

Children, mostly. And grown ups who would rather have a dog in a party hat than a joke about their age.

They are single cards: one scene and a few words. For a big group card, a funny or warm front leaves more room for the notes.

How it works

One card, one link, every name on it.

  1. 01

    Pick a front.

Any card above. You can change it until the first person signs.

  2. 02

    Send the link.

Each person adds their own note from a browser. Nobody needs the app.

  3. 03

    It opens on the day.

They read every note on their phone, and keep it.

Questions

Are these cards for children?

Mostly. They suit anybody who likes a small drawing more than a joke.

Can a class sign one?

Yes. A teacher or a parent sends one link, and each child adds a note or a name.

How many cute designs are there?

Fifteen birthday ones today. They are drawn by hand and new ones are added over time.

Somebody has a day coming up.
